The Community of CALM during the Procession heading to the main Chapel for Palm Sunday Celebration
The Palm Sunday celebrations did not leave aside CALM Namugongo community. We also celebrated it to the fullest. It all started the evening before the real day with decorating the church by Br Van Tan also known as chao chao, collecting Palm leaves from the nearby bush by Fr Venusto and Mzei Johnson and singing practice of Makerere College choir combined with CALM choir.
The Palm Sunday celebrated on 9th March 2017 marks the beginning of the Holy Week, whereby Christians in the whole World reflect upon the Passion, the Death and the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in order to save us. There was a procession from Don Bosco Primary school and the congregation matched while singing and waving the palm leaves to the chapel with Clergy and altar boys in front, followed by the choir and the Christians. The attendance was so big that the Christians could not fit in the chapel and thus many sat outside. Fr Elie was the main celebrant and he made the mass colorful and not forgetting the choir that did a brilliant job given the prior practice the previous evening. It was such a colorful day, thanks to the Christian community for choosing to pray with us always. Fr Rector at the end of the Eucharist, announced the program for the next days of the Holy Week. Starting from Wednesday of the Holy Week at 5pm, there will be given the Sacrament of Reconciliation to the whole community of CALM. On the Holy Thursday, the priests of CALM will go for the Chrisma Mass in the morning and renew the priestly vows in front of the Archbishop, then in the evening at 6pm, there will be Mass of the institution of the Eucharist (Last Supper).
