Sometimes surviving in the village becomes easy due to the plenty of fruits like jack fruits, sugarcane, guavas, mangoes etc. Since my mother was taking a long time to visit me I grew up knowing my grandmother as my mother and I was calling her “mother”.
So I came to call my mother Aunt since even other kids in the village were calling her Aunt and she used to tell me “am your mother” but I could not believe it. Life in the village moved for a couple of years until when sad news broke into my ears that my father whom I had not seen again in my life was very sick and wanted to see me on his sick bed. Unfortunately due to the shortage of money for transport I and my grandfather did not reach in time but reached a day after his death. I found my mother already in tears and my father was already dead….. (TO BE CONTINUED)
